About

While the boundaries between design disciplines are blurring, it's important to me to use all sorts of media within my work including photography, motion design, illustration, typography, graphic design, art, handicraft etc. inspired by the quest I want to explore and the story I want to tell.

Always exploring genuine, inspiring ideas. Combining analytical powers with artistic intuition. Viewing things and themes from every possible angel. Excited about how the interaction of colour, perspective, light and emotion generates a captivating composition.

Alignment

Lines can be found everywhere, especially within architecture. They run towards a vanishing point or flee to the edges. To me, it is always fascinating to follow the lines and construct a composition out of them.

Secret 7”

Secret 7” is a british fundraising platform that takes 7 tracks from 7 musicians and presses each one 100 times to 7” vinyl. I participated in a worldwide competition to interpret the tracks and my design for John Lennon's 'Imagine' was chosen to be printed on one of the 700 sleeves.

Matatu

Matatu is a game inspired by the love of geometry and nature. It is a three-dimensional strategy board game which can be played by 2-3 players and is completely made out of wood.

A special feature is the fact that the pyramid also functions as a container for the counters.

Night

The stop-motion animation 'Night' is based on the composition Pithoprakta by Iannis Xenakis. It is an abstract representation of the emotions and scenes evoked by the sounds of the composition.

Something inbetween

Senses, sensibility, sensuality.
Masculinity, femininity, something inbetween.

NYC

New York City.

Four lines

During a workshop I created a new typeface in which every letter is constructed by using just four different characters: a small c, a big C, a short stroke and a long stroke. When you take, for instance, the letters of a sentence to these pieces again, it forms a sort of secret code.

Ceremony of eating

The tableware and the cutlery were designed to suit the human hands ergonomically.

The materials used are clay, paper and epoxy resin, which creates a natural and organic appearance.

Shapes

The two animations were created out of illustrations for which I only used elementary forms like triangles, circles and rectangles.

Renaissance

This imaginary campaign is meant to be for a fragrance by Bulgari. The idea was to create images that resemble the paintings of Peter Paul Rubens but also contain pieces of modernism.

Still waters run deep

The symbol of the iceberg represents me as I am a person who, at first sight, seems to be quiet and introverted, but can be really communicative and outgoing when knowing someone better.

For the prints I used two layers of wood, plotted with a laser cutter.

#itsokay

The campaign #itsokay is all about social anxiety. The aim was to let people know that it is totally okay to have social anxiety. You don't have to be ashamed of it and you are not alone with it. For the project I engaged Katharina Voit who worked as the camera operator.

Manifesto

My manifesto is about the need to be more thoughtful with our actions and a reminder of the responsibility everybody has. The main message is to think before doing something.

Besides the booklet I created a two-layered poster in the same style and processed the whole manifesto theme into an exhibition.
